My name is Maria and I am the owner of Save the Bees Flower Co, a little urban flower farm and floral design business in Lehi Utah.

I often get asked how I started growing cut flowers in Utah and the answer is pretty simple. I’ve always had an interest in floral design but did not have a lot of opportunities to pursue it between my degree at BYU and starting my young family.

We bought our first home in 2017 and it came with a giant, unused garden space. I started dreaming about what I could plant in that space and I had the thought to plant cut flowers. This would allow me to explore my interest in floral design from the ground up.

At first, I didn’t know if growing beautiful, bouquet-worthy blooms was possible here in Utah. However, after years of research and jumping in with both feet, I discovered that we can grow gorgeous cut flowers here!

Peonies, tulips, roses, snapdragons, hellebore, dahlias, sweetpeas, and more grow happily here along the Wasatch Front!

In addition to growing cut flowers, I’ve acquired floral design training over the years from multiple sources, including Team Flower and Blooms & Branches.

I am a floral designer and grower specializing in natural, garden-style arrangements for CSA members and Utah brides.

I also share my love for flowers by teaching occasional workshops at Thanksgiving Point.

Although I will never expand to a full-size farm, I believe in sourcing locally as much as possible. The more flowers in Utah the better. Better for our declining pollinator community. Better for our food crops. And better for our floral industry. #helpUtahbloom
